# Install EMPF Preview

- Requirements: Windows 11 64-bit (likely works on Windows 10 64-bit); local admin rights to install
- The installer is not code-signed yet: Windows may show Unknown Publisher, Chrome may say the file is "not commonly downloaded"
- Verify the installer filename and SHA256 on https://empfpreview.com/download/ before running setup

## Install steps

1. Buy and download the installer (delivered after checkout on https://empfpreview.com/buy/).
2. Verify the SHA256 hash against the installer details page.
3. Run setup; accept the Windows prompts (see Unknown Publisher guidance on the canonical page).
4. After installation, open a folder with `.empf` files — thumbnails may need a cache refresh the first time.

## Verify after installation

Check that `.empf` files show thumbnails in Explorer and that the preview app opens. Installed files include the preview app, the thumbnail handler and the Seer plugin folder (`C:\Program Files\EMPF Preview\seer-plugin`).

## Updating and uninstall

Updates install over the existing version; uninstall via Windows Apps & Features. Details on the canonical page.
