# eufyMake EMPF thumbnails in Windows Explorer

- EMPF Preview registers a Windows thumbnail handler for `.empf` files
- Thumbnails render through the standard Windows thumbnail system and are cached by Windows
- Best setup: keep `.empf` files in a normal local folder (not a OneDrive Files On-Demand placeholder folder)

## How it works

Explorer asks the handler for a thumbnail the first time a file becomes visible; Windows then caches it. New files thumbnail as they appear; after installing, existing files may need a one-time cache refresh.

## Refreshing thumbnails

If you still see generic icons: refresh the folder view, or clear the Windows thumbnail cache (steps on the canonical page), then reopen the folder.

## Notes

- OneDrive: Files On-Demand placeholders may not thumbnail until the file is available locally.
- Render size: thumbnails render at the sizes Explorer requests; the preview app and PNG export offer larger renders.
