Install EMPF Preview

Updated by Agima Software. Current EMPF Preview release: 2.6.10.0.

Use the Windows installer to register EMPF Preview as a local preview, thumbnail and export helper for .empf files. EMPF Preview complements eufyMake Studio; it does not replace the official eufyMake software for editing, printing or account/device workflows.

Requirements

  • Recommended: Windows 11 64-bit
  • Likely compatible: Windows 10 64-bit, but Microsoft ended standard Windows 10 support on October 14, 2025
  • Local .empf files
  • Optional: Seer, plus manual plugin setup for Spacebar preview

EMPF Preview is not suitable for 32-bit Windows, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows Vista or Windows XP. Installation can also be blocked on Windows in S mode or strongly locked-down company computers because the app installs Windows Explorer thumbnail integration.

Not sure? In Windows Settings, check that your PC runs a 64-bit version of Windows 10 or Windows 11.

Install

  1. Get EMPF Preview and open the download link after payment.
  2. Run the setup.
  3. Approve the Windows prompt if shown, after checking the installer details on the download page.
  4. Open a folder containing .empf files.
  5. Switch Explorer to Large icons or Extra large icons.

Verify after installation

Open a normal local folder with .empf files and switch Explorer to Large icons or Extra large icons. Windows may need a moment to request and cache the first thumbnails.

Common problems

Most install questions are about unsigned installer warnings, browser warnings, thumbnail cache timing or managed PCs that block Explorer integration.

If Windows shows Unknown Publisher

The current installer is not code-signed yet. Windows may show an Unknown Publisher or SmartScreen warning before setup starts.

This warning means Windows cannot display a verified publisher name for this installer. It is separate from the local-processing behavior: EMPF Preview still processes project files on your PC and does not upload them to our servers.

Only continue when all of these checks match:

  • You downloaded the installer from the official EMPF Preview download page after checkout.
  • The file name is EMPFPreviewSetup-2.6.10-x64.exe.
  • The SHA256 hash matches the value shown on the download page.

A signed Windows installer is planned to reduce Unknown Publisher warnings in a later release.

Do not install EMPF Preview on a managed corporate PC unless you are allowed to install Explorer shell extensions and unsigned utilities.

If Chrome says the file is not commonly downloaded

Chrome may warn that the installer is not commonly downloaded because this is a new, low-volume, unsigned Windows installer. Treat the warning seriously, but it does not automatically mean the file is known malware.

Only continue if the filename is EMPFPreviewSetup-2.6.10-x64.exe, the SHA256 hash matches the download page, and the file came from your EMPF Preview download link after checkout. If any detail differs, delete the file and contact support.

Installed files

By default, EMPF Preview is installed in:

C:\Program Files\EMPF Preview

Local logs and cache are stored in:

%LOCALAPPDATA%\EMPFPreview

Updating

Install a newer setup over the existing version. EMPF Preview uses a fixed installer AppId, so updates replace the existing installation instead of creating a second copy.

Uninstall

Use Windows Settings, Apps, Installed apps, EMPF Preview, Uninstall.
